CHOOSE TO BE WISE

James 3:14-17
“14 But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. 15 This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. 16 For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. 17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.”

One common statement you hear a lot in our part of the world is, ‘experience is the best teacher’. Whereas generally this is acceptable, you still have to beware of what you think you have learned out of an experience you had.

People have experiences that separate them from others. In other words, their experience builds blockades between them and others who they perceive as evil. In the process, they vow never to get close to any human being again. They tell you “experience has made me wise. I will never get close to any person again in my life” It is not uncommon for example, to find ladies who vow that they are not going to marry because of what life experiences taught them. Mostly it is about evil stories they heard from others. All things being equal, whatever makes you withdraw from people as a lifestyle is not wisdom from above. The fact that one person offended you so badly, does not mean every other person is evil. Wisdom teaches you how to effectively maintain relationships with people.

Anything that makes you suspicious of people, critical of everything they say or do, etc. may be leading you on the path of bitterness, envy, jealousy, and any of those emotional states are definitely not biblical, no matter how you feel about them. Verse 17 describes wisdom that comes from above. If your thoughts and feelings fall short of that, then you have to give them up. Be truly wise.

Prayer
1. Thank God that you have a heavenly Father who is wise above all else.
2. Pray and ask God for wisdom for every situation you encounter in this life.
3. Father, please help me to constantly draw wisdom from the Holy Spirit.

Declarations
I declare that I have the wisdom of God. I know Elohim is wise and I walk in His wisdom. The wisdom I walk in is above the wisdom of the world. I declare by divine authority that the wisdom of God which has been made freely available to me has delivered me from foolishness and made me an overcomer in this life in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
