WALKING WITH GOD

*1 John 1:5-7*
_5 This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin._

The profound truth in this scripture today is that God is Light. There is no iota of darkness in God. In fact, as God approaches, all darkness flees. The simple illustration of this is what happens every morning. When the sun shows up darkness goes away gradually till you do not need the artificial lights that we created to light up our houses and communities by night.

The light of God does more for us than the natural light. We try to substitute the natural light of the sun but we cannot substitute the light of God. We have to learn to walk in it. When the Holy Spirit sheds God’s light in our hearts, the purpose is to remove all those wayward thoughts, all those sinful tendencies, all rebellion and every desire to do that which is wrong before God.

It is when the Holy Spirit shines His light in our hearts that we can experience Jesus’ teaching, ‘blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God’. We are privileged to have the Holy Spirit living in us. We allow Him to drive all darkness from our lives to the point that the devil will have no part in us. This is our inheritance from Calvary and we should never deny ourselves of that experience. Walk in the Light.

*Prayer*
1. Thank God for His light to dispel all darkness from your life as His child.
2. Pray that you will simply open up and allow God’s light to shine through to make you full of His light.
3. Father, please help me break any covenants with darkness and allow Your light to shine through me.

*Declarations*
I declare that I am a child of the Light. This Light is Jesus and He abides in me by the Holy spirit. Therefore, I shall no longer walk in darkness. I shall not give in to the unfruitful works of darkness. I therefore by the grace of God declare that my walk in this life henceforth shall be by the light of God in the name of Jesus.
