BLESS THOSE AROUND YOU

*Proverbs 12:13-14*

13 The wicked is ensnared by the transgression of his lips, but the righteous will come through trouble. 14 A man will be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth, and the recompense of a man’s hands will be rendered to him._

We have to understand that the Christian life is lived on two planes; first the vertical, that deals with our relationship with God. That is where worship, prayer predominantly resides. The second is the horizontal plane which has to do with how we relate with our fellow humans.

We have to further understand that our vertical relationship always ends in our horizontal. You cannot say that you love God [vertical] and hate your neighbor [horizontal]. As a matter of fact, we can evaluate our vertical relationship a lot by how we relate with people. God is so concerned about how we treat people to the point that Jesus said if our relationship with people is not right, we cannot come into His presence to present an acceptable offering to Him.

Is it possible that for many of us, much of the offering we give in church may not be acceptable to God because we do not treat others as well as we should? That seems frightening, but it is the truth according to Jesus’ teaching.

The fruit of your mouth is what you say, especially to people. This is one area where a lot of Christians err on regular basis. By their words, some believers put people off, sometimes put them down, and in extreme cases people even curse others. God expects us to bless people always, not by saying “God bless you” alone, but speak words that lift people up and empower them for living. If you are at peace with God and with yourself, it will certainly show in your relationship with the people made in the image of God.

Prayer
1. Thank God for His unchanging, indiscriminate and unconditional love towards us.
2. Pray that as God loves you, in the same way you will love others.
3. Father, please help me manifest every good I receive from You in my relationship with people.

Declarations
I declare that I am a vessel created in the image of God. In God’s nature I can love people. In His nature I can treat them well. In God’s nature I can represent Him in all matters of life and living. Christ in me, makes me the light of the world. I declare that I am like a city set on a hill. I will shine for my world to see in the name of Jesus.
